Sofia Branding
A custom wordmark and identity system for Sofia, the new musical duo of Samson Brendonck and Jef Solie.
Intro
Sofia is a new musical duo formed by Samson Brendonck, who I worked with before on Desktop Stories, and Jef Solie. They asked me to build their identity from scratch. We aligned on a direction together, then I started sketching a custom logo by hand instead of working from an existing typeface.
The logo
I kept iterating in Figma from the initial sketches, refining the letterforms over a lot of passes. At some point they needed real type rules applied, consistent strokes, corrected spacing, a shared logic between characters, so it stopped looking hand-sketched and read as a proper typeface.
Merch
A logo on its own can look plain on something like a T-shirt, so I built a small tool that takes an SVG path and reshapes it into a looser, more organic version of itself. I used it to build separate visuals for the merch instead of just printing the logo on a shirt.
